What is your name/stage name?
“My real name is Cam Okarmus but the stage name is CamOhDam”
Where are you from?
”I’m from a small town called Colchester in Connecticut”
What do you do?
“I write songs, mostly rap music and I like to make other content like acapella, free verses and little skits about my life and the things I’ve experienced”
How long have you been making music?
”I’ve been making music since I was 16 years old and I’m now 22. My boy Swett who also raps, pushed me to write and record bc he knows that I’m nice with it and I just branched out from there. Got my own materials, a new mic and just started grinding all different kinds of songs.”
Who’s your biggest inspiration?
”When I first started rapping my biggest inspiration was Eminem. I wanted to have that not give a fuck attitude as well as be confident in everything that I put out, regardless of what I’ve been through or what people think of me. Now the artist that gives me the most drive is XXXTENTACION. X did a little bit of everything, was very spiritual and interacted directly with his community. You could tell he cared about each and every one of us and I want to be the same way with my fans and the people that support me.”
What genre of music do you create?
“I make rap music, some indie stuff that’s unreleased and some trap shit too. I’m tryna branch out and make songs that people like nowadays.”
What was it like working with (collabs?)
“ I LOVE working with other people. I’ve probably worked with 15-20 people since I’ve started rap and every one of those songs are bangers. I like to expand with others and see what they’re capable of, as well as seeing the cohesion I have with other people.”
What are some features you have?
”A lot of features are my best friend Swett, he’s the one that pushed me to rap. He is good, just needs work with the delivery and adjusting his flow. I’ve worked with a good friend named Ash who lives in the UK, we go really well together and besides a few individual songs I have with him, we actually have a whole tape together. It’s like a 7 song EP, and every song is him and I. I’ve worked with another good friend of mine named Ceb-E who’s talented in all meanings of the word. He can literally do anything and we work well together no matter what the beat is.”
What are some features you want to get?
”Right now I’m saving up bread so I can work with one of my favorite rappers to date and his name is Chuuwee. He’s got that old school flow with the word play and I’ve been listening to him and his boy Trizz for years. They remind me a lot of Swett and I and a feature with them would solidify my goals. I’d also like to work with a few other artists like Joey Trap, Joey Badass, Malz Monday, Russ and Aaron May”
Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
“If I could work with anybody in the whole world, I’m picking XXXTENTACION and Cole Bennett. We would make a freaking banger and then Cole would hook us up with some fire visuals”
Are you signed to a label?
“My friend and I Swett had a little contract binding me to our group called SO860 but that contact has since expired and all though I’m affiliated with the group, I’m no longer signed.”
Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
“I want any deal that’s gonna make me money off doing what I love. I don’t know much about either so I’m gonna do some research and figure out what I really want out of this rap shit.
I think a distribution deal would be key bc I wanna make money and expand on a larger scale.”
Who are your biggest supporters?
”My biggest supporters are my mom, my brother, my best friend Swett and my girlfriend Brianna. They all love my music and wanna see me win be of it.”
Where did your name come from?
”My name was originally CamLikesHam when I first started but it was kind of a joke and I don’t really fw ham like that haha. Plus it’s a little childish and what I’m tryna do now is a bit more serious than that, so I changed it to CamOhDam bc my name is Cam and the rest is supposed to be your reaction when you hear me rap.”
What are you currently working on?
”I’m working on an album called The Prophecy and it’s gonna be all about proving myself and what I truly can do on a variety of different beats. The prophecy has revealed itself and this album is my “destiny” that’s how I’m treating it.”
What is your latest release?
”Latest release is an album called the The Art of Diversity and it showcases how I can work with different flows and types of beats, as well as working with other people. The point is to canvas how diverse I truly am when it comes to music.”
When is your next release?
”Next release will be “The Prophecy” but that’s still in the early stages.”
