Interview with Jacob Spencer

Q1 What’s your name?

A1 My name is Jacob Spencer, but some call me Jake!

Q2 Where are you from?

A2 I was born and raised in Des Moines, IA

Q3 How old are you

A3 I’m currently 23 years old, my birthday is December 8th 1999

Q4 When did you start making music

A4 I started with making covers when I was around 15 years old. Simply posting them on Youtube at first. Find what genre I sound best with, and I slowly would write original music in-between covers. That’s when I’d start implementing original music inbetween covers.

Q5 How serious are you about your career?

A5 I’ve always taken my passion and love for music in a very serious manner. Whether its a cover of someone else’s song and making it my own, or with my original music, I want to be someones reason to strive to follow their dreams and connect with them in a very personal way. Whether that be through their headphones or face to face performing.

Q6 Have you ever thought about quitting music?

A6 In the very beginning absolutely. Especially with how tough it is to get in the industry and kids making fun of you left and right for “not being good enough” your self esteem and confidence instantly gets lowered. But I never gave up, no matter what people would say or throw my way. My dream for music will never die.

Q7 Who inspires you the most?

A7 My mom. She has always been my #1 supporter since the very beginning., Without her, I wouldn’t be the person or artist I am today!

Q8 Who got you into making music?

A8 So many artists inspired me to start music. From Justin Bieber, Big Time Rush, Austin Mahone, any of the members from One Direction, the list goes on. Their stories and how they got discovered truly got me so interested in making my own musical path and thinking “if they can, so can I”.

Q9 Who is your favorite producer?

A9 One producer I’ve always admired is Poo Bear. Have you listened to the work he’s done with Justin Bieber? Truly magnificent, you can tell there is so much soul in the craft he makes.

Q10 What is one of your best songs/beats?

A10 My favorite original song I’ve made/recorded would have to be “Any Other Way” or “Hard To Let Go”. They’re very personal songs to me and hopefully one day I can perform them live!

Q11 Are you signed to record label?

A11 I am not! Fully independent

Q12 Have you ever performed?

A12 Not quite yet! Now I have been on stage before, but only with my high school choir back in the day, show choir, and little open mic nights when I was in school and karaoke bars current day. I’ve always wanted to perform though! Hopefully one day I can.

Q13 Who would you most likely collaborate with?

A13 I would love to collaborate with so many artists. But if I had to pick one it would be Kendall Schmidt from Big Time Rush. He is such a storyteller and is a killer artist!

Q14 If you could open for any artist who would it be?

A14 I would easily pick Big Time Rush. They are so creative and talented in every aspect and if I got the chance to one day open for such an iconic group, I would absolutely freak!

Q15 What’s next for you?

A15 Well I’m always working on covers so definitely more of those are on the way, and as for original music I’m always writing and willing to collaborate with other fellow artists to truly make something magical! So all I can say is, definitely be on the look out for more music from me coming later this year!
