Born and raised in Athens, Georgia, Don Popi aka Don P, started rapping when she was 16 years old in a home studio with her three older sisters. Her early adulthood consisted of playing professional basketball overseas in Europe where she developed a deeper passion for poetry and writing music. It is evident through her effortless lyricism how poetry is the foundation for her rhymes which exemplify simplistic realities yet sophisticated complexities that portray wisdom beyond her years. As a female in the hip-hop industry, Don Popi is authentic and unapologetic, believing that women should be able to express themselves however they desire and with dominance. As of now she has three first full-length projects, Vibez Vol 1, Timeless, and Wait Until da Night. Don P demands this respect, perfectly showcasing boundless versatility as well as refreshing, stylistic delivery. Melodies and captivating hooks aren’t the only thing that Don P proves to attain talent-wise but she also spits bars for days that never shy away from utilizing that deep-rooted Georgia lingo. With an intoxicating voice, combined with southern twang, and a natural swag that exudes confidence, her unique sound is impossible to replicate and leaves you wanting to hear more.
My aim is to continue letting my creativity be my driving force. My imagination is rich and I am able to express my feeling and insights in unique ways that others can benefit from.
A new single by Don Popi called “This Club” is set to be released on July 22, 2022. I blend of hiphop and afropop this is a Summer Anthem
