Q.) What is your name/stage name?
A.) “Krystal Brown“

Q.) Where are you from?
A.) “I was raised in Chesapeake, Virginia.“

Q.) What do you do?
A.) “I am an animal rescuer and a musician. I write all of my own songs and sing. My first EP ‘Lady Sisyphus’ was released a few years ago. I am currently promoting my latest album ‘Sugar Free’.“

Q.) How long have you been making music?
A.) “I started making music about 5 years ago. I started writing songs at 15 but I didn’t really get into making full songs until relatively recently. I had no confidence in myself or in my voice. I had to get my self-esteem up and do some serious soul searching before I was able to make my albums.“

Q.) What genre of music do you create?
A.) “I create indie-pop music. It has dance and world music elements as well. I try to be versatile. I try to write lyrics that tell a story. For example, my song ‘Frankie Boy’ deals with the loss of a pet and ‘Defective’ deals with being compared to an absentee parent. Both of those songs are on ‘Sugar Free’.“

Q.) What are some features you want to get?
A.) “I want to get some features with Teddy Mykaels. He is an up-and-coming pop singer who is like the male Charli XCX. Speaking of Charli XCX, I would like to get a feature with her as well. Her music is quirky, weird and fun in a dark way.“

Q.) Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
A.) “I would love to work with Martin Gore of Depeche Mode. He is an awesome songwriter and has crafted some of Depeche Mode’s greatest hits. I love the darkness and moodiness of Depeche Mode’s music and you can also dance to it.“

Q.) Are you signed to a label?
A.) “No I am not. But I am open to it.“

Q.) Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
A.) “I am open to a record deal or a distribution deal. I am open to pretty much everything. It is hard getting people to listen to you as an indie artist and it is hard getting your music out there and advertising yourself to people.“

Q.) Who are your biggest supporters?
A.) “My mother supports my music. Also, Teddy Mykaels has been very supportive of my music and has listened to it. I met him through the indie music scene.“

Q.) Where did your name come from?
A.) “It is just my real name. Now I think I should have been more creative!“

Q.) What are you currently working on?
A.) “Right now, I am currently promoting my latest album ‘Sugar Free’. It is a fun indie pop record, and I am trying to get more and more people to hear it and maybe they will grow to love it as I do!“
