Q.) What is your name / stage name?
shehates601
Q.) Where are you from?
Oakland, MD
Q.) What do you do?
I make melodic Hip-Hop/Rap & audio engineer everything myself with Logic Pro. I don’t make the beats though. Outside of music I don’t do much other than play hella video games, skate, & do drugs to be honest.
Q.) How long have you been making music?
Around 6 years.
Q.) What was your first song/project?
This song called “Life’s Hazy” I wrote it on a long car ride with my dad in the middle of the night, so long ago, I felt like I had potential in my lyrics/vocals so I full sent it, it wasn’t the best & it took awhile but the evolution to now is insane.
Q.) Who’s your inspiration?
xxxtentacion, Juice WRLD, & Dro Kenji are my core inspirations, but nowadays I take inspiration from lots of different artists, even underground artists such as Killbunk.
Q.) What genre of music do you create?
Hip-Hop/Rap
Q.) What are some features you have?
I’m your basic ADHD/ADD alternative style 20 yr old. I smoke hella weed, I’m addicted to nicotine, I dropped out of school, you could guess the rest. My vocals & mixing/mastering skills are insane.
Q.) Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
Without hesitation it’d be Juice WRLD, it kills me knowing I’ll never have the chance to even be in the same room as such a legend. It truly breaks my heart, I love him & his music to death & he continues to have an impact on me from the grave. LLJW <3
Q.) Are you signed to a label?
No, if major labels ever end up contacting me I’m going to be very decisive about my decision. If I was to lock in with a label I want to make sure it was the best decision possible for me.
Q.) Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
Preferably a record deal, although if I somehow manage to grow my audience enough to pull it off I’d like to start a Label with my good friend Wednesday’s Restless.
Q.) Who are your biggest supporters?
My closest friends & a few people who’ve found me over the internet, I have so much love for the people who show true love & support for what I do.
Q.) Do you write your own material?
I mean, does freestyling everything count? If so then yes, but I don’t sit down & write anything before I record, I just find beats I like & send it. I think I take that from Juice WRLD honestly.
Q.) Do you create your own music video concepts?
I haven’t really thought out a full idea for a music video but I would love to collaborate with people who could help me create them. I currently have no music videos & I’d really like to.
Q.) What’s your favorite music to listen to?
Anything in the style of the music I make. There’s just a certain sound that scratches the feel good parts of my brain.
Q.) What are you currently working on?
I’m always making songs, I have so much unreleased, enough for several albums. I have two albums actually mostly put together, I just don’t know when I want to release them. I currently drop a single every Friday.
Q.) What is your latest release?
It’s called “death note” I made it last June. I sat on it for awhile until one of my homies told me I need to start dropping some of the stuff I’ve kept in the archives for awhile, so I did. I said “I know you think that I’m mental, Imma just write you in my death note, find out his name get him out the way” inspired by the anime “Death Note” which is one of my favorite shows.
Q.) When is your next release?
This Friday I’m dropping a song called TGIF. The main chorus is abbreviations like STFU, OMG, IDK, WTF, BRB, IDC, TBH, then TGIF. It sounds kind of goofy but the way I did it is pretty cool in my opinion.
Q.) Where is one place you want to travel to perform?
Anywhere truly, but I feel like it would be surreal to perform in Paris or London.
Q.) What’s the biggest crowd that you have performed for?
About 30 people at my best friends 30th birthday party. I’d really like to perform more consistently, that’s really the only “show” I’ve ever done. Small town problems.
Q.) Who’s someone you can see yourself on tour with?
Honestly, I think if The Kid Laroi heard my music & saw how much work I put in, he’d have me open for him. That’s a huge goal of mine.
Q.) Who produces your music?
I use a bunch of different producers, but lately AztroBoi has been putting out beats that click so well with me & most of my favorite songs of mine are on his beats.
Q.) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I think if I keep up what I’ve been doing I’ll be on my own world tour. I may sound cocky, but truly I’m just extremely confident in my abilities & I have huge aspirations for my life, so I guess we’ll see where it takes me.
