In a remarkable act of solidarity, 50 Cent, the renowned hip-hop artist, and TV producer, has thrown his weight behind actor Terrence Howard in his legal battle against Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Howard recently filed a lawsuit, alleging that he was unfairly compensated for his role in the widely acclaimed Fox series Empire.
At a press conference in December, Howard, who earned an Oscar nomination for his work, expressed his frustration at not receiving due compensation as a producer, despite his significant contributions to the show’s creative process. In a bold move, 50 Cent took to Instagram, leaving a comment that read, “[C]all my phone, I will get you the money they were supposed to get for you. I’m not playing any games over here.”
This unexpected alliance is not the first of its kind, as 50 Cent previously offered support to Taraji P. Henson, another Empire alum. Henson parted ways with her team after they failed to capitalize on her success as Cookie, prompting 50 Cent to criticize the team for “dropping the ball.”
As the curtain rises on 2024, 50 Cent’s generosity takes center stage, raising questions about the dynamics of power and financial struggles in the entertainment industry. This bold move not only showcases 50 Cent’s commitment to his peers but also highlights the challenges faced by actors seeking fair compensation for their artistic contributions.
