Hailing from the backdrop of Northern Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Ray Lynch, born RaShaun Lynch, has been steadily carving his own path in the music industry. Blending heartfelt lyricism with a signature sound that combines elements of Nipsey Hussle, J. Cole, and 90s R&B, Ray’s music is far more than just a listening experience—it’s a journey. His goal? To spread love, raise awareness about mental health struggles, and create a connection with listeners who feel just as he does.
Ray’s commitment to his craft is unwavering, with his debut album Detour acting as a testament to his raw passion and authenticity. His music isn’t just for the moment—it’s for those who struggle with mental health and learning disabilities. “My fan base knows my passion and my story,” Ray explains. “The album is called Detour because it’s not just a personal reflection; it’s for those who feel like they’re on a detour in their lives.”
One of the most profound moments in Ray’s career came when he received feedback from the legendary 90’s group, Kit Klose, as well as industry insiders like Irv and Chris Gotti. His collaboration with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, where they shared valuable insights, further cemented Ray’s belief that perseverance in the game is the key to success. His drive to succeed as an independent artist is evident through his creation of Ray Lynch Enterprise LLC in 2021. This move reflected not just his desire to be an artist, but a visionary, entrepreneur, and beacon for others to follow.
Though Ray admits to the challenges of the industry—such as the misconception that music alone will secure a record deal—he has remained resolute. “It takes networking and studying the music business. It’s a marathon, not a sprint,” he adds, referencing the blueprint laid out by Nipsey Hussle that Ray admires. This dedication has led to significant achievements, including his distribution deal with UnitedMasters and his first taste of financial success from music.
Motivated by his daughter Carli Ray, his girlfriend Heaven, and the unwavering support of friends and family, Ray Lynch pushes forward. Social media isn’t his go-to strategy for engagement, but he’s found meaningful connections on platforms like LinkedIn and ReverbNation. It’s clear that Ray prefers to let his music do the talking, taking a “low key” approach and allowing his journey to unfold in front of his audience.
With his upcoming album DeTour 2 in the works, Ray is looking forward to continuing his legacy and bringing listeners along for the ride. “I’m excited for what’s next,” he says. “The story isn’t over. We’re just getting started.”
