Jacksonville, Florida, is home to many talents, but few have made the kind of waves that DJ the DJ has. Known for his raw production skills and deep passion for hip-hop, DJ the DJ is carving out a unique space for himself in the music industry. While he may still be relatively new—only two years into his journey—his growth and determination are undeniable.
From the start, DJ the DJ knew he wanted to create music that moved people, not just with beats but with substance. “I’ve always had a passion for music,” he explains. His first project, Wrath of the Last Prince, put him on the map, showcasing his skills as a DJ, engineer, and producer. As a fan of the genre’s underground roots, he draws heavy inspiration from none other than 9th Wonder, a true legend in the world of hip-hop.
“I’m all about Boom Bap,” DJ the DJ says with excitement. This old-school influence is felt in every track he produces, and it’s clear that his love for raw, soulful beats fuels his creativity. His music has a unique depth to it, offering listeners a look into his life and experiences, while maintaining the authenticity that hip-hop is known for.
While DJ the DJ has yet to sign with a label, he’s building something bigger than a typical record deal. His biggest supporters are those closest to him—his group of fellow artists, who inspire him daily. “We’re working on an album together, plus a beat tape and a couple of EPs,” he shares. He is determined to push the boundaries of his music and bring something fresh to the industry.
His dream collaboration? “Doechii. She’s got that fire, that energy,” he says. It’s clear that DJ the DJ is all about aligning himself with other creatives who aren’t afraid to take risks. And when it comes to performing, he’s got his sights set on global stages. “I want to perform in Japan. That’s where I want to take my music.”
With plans for more releases, including an album with his group this summer, DJ the DJ is positioning himself to make waves not only locally but internationally.
