Tech N9ne is peeling back the layers on his upcoming project, and his latest single, “J6’s,” offers a vivid glimpse into the personal journey that lies ahead. Known for his rapid-fire flows and theatrical delivery, the Kansas City icon is pivoting toward introspection with his forthcoming album 5816 FOREST, named after the address of the home he ran away from at just 12 years old.
Set to drop in June — possibly on the 13th, according to early listings — the album is being described by Tech himself as “an audio series with 17 episodes about my life.” If that’s the case, “J6’s” may be one of the more nostalgic chapters, as the veteran MC recalls moments from his youth, including the symbolic power of his Jordan 6s — a pair of sneakers that, to him, represented both pride and possibility.
This new single joins previous drops “The Birth” and “RDV,” which seem to serve as narrative milestones on the timeline of his life. If those are any indication, 5816 FOREST won’t just be a new album — it’ll be one of Tech N9ne’s most personal bodies of work to date.
