Interview With Kyanna Denice

What is your name/stage name?
Kyanna Denice, which also happens to be my first & middle government name.

Where are you from?
Miami. Specifically, Hialeah.

What do you do?
I currently work at one of the largest meat packaging companies, National Beef. Hanging on by a thread ’til the universe affirms it’s time for me to pursue music full-time. Which seems to be happening very soon.

How long have you been making music?
I’ve been composing original music for 7 years.

Who’s your biggest  inspiration?
One of my biggest inspirations, as far as it comes to music, would either be Rihanna or Aalyiah.

What genre of music do you create?
I’m very diverse when it comes to my craft but I’m currently focused on executing r&b.

What was it like working with (collabs?)
I’ve worked with various artists but one of my favorite collaborations was with an artist from New Jersey, which goes by the stage name, $aint. Literally met dude over Twitter, we linked for TWO hours & managed to record an entire song (that hadn’t been started ’til we linked up in person) in ONE hour. We flowed together very naturally. Vibe was on point. That interaction definitely changed my perspective on collaborations. In a good way.

What are some features you have?
I currently only have one feat. released to all streaming platforms which is with, upcoming hip-hop artist, $aint. However I do have more collaborations on my soundcloud profile.

What are some features you want to get?
A dream feat. of mine has always been Rihanna. I’ve always admired her diversity & authenticity. Another feat. I’d love to have is with Erykah Badu, I firmly believe we’d create beautiful frequencies.

Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
Aalyiah.

Are you signed to a label?
No, I am currently an independent artist working with Tunecore.

Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
At this time, I’m open to any & every opportunity. I’m looking for an opportunity that will allow me to pursue my music full-time. An opportunity that’ll change my life for the better.

Who are your biggest supporters?
I can proudly say my fiance is one of, if not, my biggest supporters. Always going above & beyond to remind me I have all the potential, talent & determination to make it in this industry.

Where did your name come from?
My mother actually wanted to name me “Karina”. She went to a store a few days before giving birth to me & as she was walking around the store she heard a group of women calling a baby “Kyanna”. My mom said it was the most beautiful girl name she’d heard & that’s how I got my first name. I also ended up finding out my name is from Hebrew origin & means “moon goddess”, so that’s cool too.

What are you currently working on?
As of right now, I’m currently working on my debut EP, ‘The Divine Awakening’. I don’t want to spoil the project too much but I will say it’s going to be way more developed than anything I’ve ever released.

What is your latest release?
My latest release was my new single ‘Therapy’, which is out on all streaming platforms. ‘Therapy’ actually hit 10,000 streams on spotify within the first month so I’m really happy & proud of that.

When is your next release?
My upcoming single ‘Busy feat. $aint’ will be releasing 7/28/22. Mark your calendars because this is a summer banger you don’t want to miss. After this release, I’ll be taking some time away to wrap up my EP.
