What is your name/stage name? Jumping the Gun @ jumpingthegunofficial
Where are you from?
“The Alternative Rock Era”
What do you do?
“We are an alternative rock band that wants to make an impression wherever we go. All of our original music is created to reach others. Our goal is to create music that will inspire and encourage our fans.”
How long have you been making music?
I have been writing since I was 13 years old, but as a band we have been making music for over 6 years now. Our band formed back in 2015.
What was your first song/project?
Our first project as a band was taking on as many local shows as possible. Our first album was a 5 song EP, “Chasing Tales.” In that album, we discovered what we wanted JTG to represent and what our vision was musically.
Who’s your inspiration?
We each have our individual inspirations, but as a group we look up to rock legends such as Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Alternatively, we are also inspired by more current groups such as Relient K and One Ok Rock.
What was it like working with producers in Muscle Shoals, AL?
It was a phenomenal experience. Being surrounded by musicians that have been a part of the industry for most of their lives is so inspiring. They were willing to help, guide and direct throughout the project. Just gaining some of their advice and knowledge was well-worth the experience.
What are some features you have?
Jumping the Gun is unique because we are an original-song band. To date, we have yet to perform a cover. We love to create new music and find “the groove” to make each song work. JTG is also unique because we are all family/friends. We’ve known each other for so long that it makes writing music together a more natural process.
Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
We would love to work with Steven Tyler.
Are you signed to a label?
Nope!
Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
We are open to a record deal, however we understand that the industry is rapidly changing. Record labels today might not be the best fit for some artists. Depending on what the “fine lines” are on the contract, we may or may not take “the deal.”
Who are your biggest supporters?
Our family has been supporting us from the very beginning. Being in a band means there’s a lot to sacrifice – even from the friends and family around you. We are very grateful to the friends, family and fans that support us with every step we take.
What are you currently working on?
Right now we are writing new material. A lot. We are ready to create something bold and new, so we’ve been busy behind the scenes.
What is your latest release?
Our latest release was our most recent EP, “Welcome to the Show.”
When is your next release?
Currently working on new releases.
Where is one place you want to travel to perform?
We would love to perform in Tokyo, Japan.
What’s the biggest crowd that you have performed for?
Probably the Santa Rosa County Fair or Vinyl Music Hall’s Showcase Event. There were so many people at those events!
Who’s someone you can see yourself on tour with?
The Foo Fighters would be a blast. We’d have so much fun with them.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
JTG doesn’t know what the future holds, but we’ve been through so many ups and downs together. We are ready for any challenge that comes our way. In five years, I’m not sure where we will be, but I do know that we will have grown stronger than ever before. I’d imagine JTG will have grown significantly and we will have learned so much.
