NBA YoungBoy sparked excitement this week after appearing to confirm a Friday release for his long-awaited album Slime Cry. On Monday, the Baton Rouge rapper posted a countdown on his Instagram Story indicating just three days remained until the album’s drop—only to delete it shortly after, according to Complex.

The now-removed post didn’t stop fans from celebrating online. On X (formerly Twitter), supporters cheered the apparent rollout, with some joking about YoungBoy’s growing family and others using the moment to take shots at A$AP Rocky, who’s preparing to release Don’t Be Dumb this Friday after dropping his single “Helicopter$.”
With the countdown gone, it’s unclear whether Slime Cry will still arrive as planned. The album has already seen delays: YoungBoy previously told fans it would drop in November, a date that came and went. At the time, he joked on X, “Oh you want my album I forgot.”
Even with the uncertainty, fans haven’t lacked new music. YoungBoy released his eighth studio album MASA in July, followed by a 42-date tour from September through November. He also linked up with DJ Khaled for the mixtape DeShawn in August.
Outside of releases, YoungBoy has stayed in headlines for his ongoing feud with NLE Choppa, which kicked off after Choppa’s October diss track “KO.” YoungBoy fired back in November with “Zero IQ Freestyle,” keeping tensions high.
For now, Slime Cry remains in limbo. Whether the album still drops Friday or sees another delay, fans are watching closely—and refreshing their feeds.
