Q. What’s your Name/Stage name?
A. I go by Trauma Da Villain.
Q. Where are you from?
A. I was born and raised in NYC Harlem for most of my life.
But I lived in almost every part of the city.
Q. What do you do?
A. I’m an artist. I like to have my hands in a lot of different
baskets so I am versatile with my craft. But I mainly love to
rap and make music.
Q. How long have you been making music?
A. I’ve always been into music. Secretly writing raps when I was little.
My brothers and people use to make fun of me but it never stopped me.
I also wrote poetry l. But once I got to high-school I started to rap
more openly to my friends. It wasn’t until I graduated HS and started
college that I actively pursued releasing music. Soundcloud and
DatPiff where the main places I released my early projects.
I started professionally pursuing music after I finished
school for post production audio engineering and graphic
design. I released my first real project in 2018. So I
guess you could say 8 really started taking music to
the next level once my project The HollyBoogz
mixtape dropped in December of 2018.
Q. Who’s your biggest inspiration?
A. My biggest inspiration cliche as it maybe is Eminem. Growing up he was one
of the first artist songs I memorized and is by far my favorite artist of all
time. I also draw inspiration from the greats like MJ, Nas , Jay-Z Bit Pun
Big L. And many others but mainly Em he’s influenced a
lot of my style and craft.
Q. What genre of music do you create?
A. Well I mainly do hiphop because I love to rap. But I’ve worked with a few
close friends that produce for me, so I’ve done mash ups of Trap Drill classic
Hiphop Edm and RNB and most recently my newest single titled Want 2 rap? Which
is a hiphop Funk style best. It just all depends on the vibe I feel
when I hear an instrumental.
Q. What was it like working with collabs?
A. The best experience I’ve ever had working with someone was working with my
now friend and engineer/ executive producer HollyBoogz. The chemistry was
amazing in the studio working with a producer that knows what you want
before you ask is phenomenal. From the coaching he gave on the way I
should come across on a session or just the straight all around love
he’s show me during the time we’ve worked together. It’s been a dope
relationship and I’m happy we still get to work together dispite me
moving from NYC to Florida.
Q. What are some features you have ?
A. So I have a few features from a few artist I’ve gotten to know over
the years. But I’d have to say my favorite feature is always going to
be my mentor and friend LeCold. He helped mold me into a dope artist
since back in Hs and anytime I need a feature he comes through and
delivers amazing work every time.
Q. What are some features you want to get?
A. Well I would honestly love to get a feature from my favorite artist.
I’d love to have a drake feature one day. But I really really want more
then anything is a Eminem Hopsin and TechNine all on one song with me.
And that would just be the most insane song ever.
Q. What’s one person dead or alive you want to work with?
A. “Well since I previously mentioned some artist that are alive.
I would love to have been able to be blessed with a Mac Miller feature.
Q. Are you singed to a label?
A. No
Q. Do you want a record deal distribution deal or non?
A. Well I have distribution covered already. I’m not currently
pursing a deal just trying to get my name out there not. But
I’m not against a record deal fi the numbers make sense.
Q. Who are your biggest supporters?
A. well my biggest supporters hands down would be my girlfriend
and my sister are the closer to me. But I have a few dope artist
I’ve networked with and met that show major support. Umm hollyboogz
is definitely on that list as well. I have a dope supper system.
It’s small but they mean the world to me.
Q. Where did your name come from?
A. My name stems from two different groups of friends I had that I held
very close. Head trauma Ent and Otvw only the villain wins. It also stems
from me giving people headaches. But I shorted it from head Trauma to
trauma and then even silly Trauma The Villain. But after a conversation
with a image consultant he recommend I changed it to Trauma Da Villain
because it would be easier to Do TDV then TTV which could get confused
for people who use that tag on twitch and stream. Still get to keep my
name and have a new unique twist.
Q. What are you currently working on?
A. So if everything goes according to plan. I have two projects coming out
this summer. One should be dropping god willing on time JUNE 4th an Ep
titled Want 2 Rap? Just like the single I mentioned earlier it’s in my
thoughts a classic just Rap project where I show off different styles
of Rap I can do. The other project I’m working on is titled The
TraumaWard: visiting Hours. And this is a continuation of my
project I released last year titled The trauma ward Deluxe.
Which is the full length album I worked on for 2 years
almost. And it’s basically a project with every song
had a feature on it. Aside from music I’m working on
planning some video shoots and I’m working on
getting more merch sales.
Q. What is your latest release?
A. My latest release is titled want 2 rap? Available on Spotify
and Apple Music. I dropped it on Easter and since then it’s
gained about 1600 streams since launch.
Q. What’s your next release?
A: My next release is slated to drop next week once the distributors
confirm or deny the submission it’s currently pending. But if all goes
well it will be out June 4th and it’s titled Want 2 Rap? It’s a 6 song EP.
