50 Cent took plenty of heat leading up to—and following—the release of his Diddy-focused docuseries. Critics labeled it everything from messy to unnecessary. But the numbers are now doing the talking, and they’re firmly in his favor.
Despite the backlash, Sean Combs: The Reckoning closed out 2025 as one of Netflix’s biggest hits. According to viewership data reported by AllHipHop’s Mike Winslow, the four-part series finished inside the Top 10 most-watched Netflix shows from July through December, landing at No. 7 overall with an impressive 51 million views.
What makes that ranking even more notable is timing. The series debuted on December 2, meaning it racked up those numbers in just a fraction of the tracking window. Even with that disadvantage, it still outperformed major titles like Wednesday (season one), Ms. Rachel, and Stranger Things 2.
The only projects ahead of it were heavyweight franchises and breakout hits, including Monster: The Ed Gein Story, Stranger Things (season one), and Squid Game (season three). The top three were rounded out by Untamed season one with 93 million views, the Stranger Things series finale at 94 million, and Wednesday season two dominating the list with a staggering 124 million views.
Given its subject matter and cultural impact, Sean Combs: The Reckoning is now being viewed by many as one of the biggest hip-hop documentaries ever, and arguably the most successful of the modern streaming era. With Sean Combs still incarcerated and public interest far from fading, it wouldn’t be surprising if the show’s numbers climb even higher when the next viewership update rolls in.
For 50 Cent, the message is clear: controversy or not, the audience showed up—and in a big way.
