Interview with: King Bennett

What is your name/stage name?

My real birth name is Alex Bennett but on stage I go by King Bennett.

Where are you from?

I’m from a mid sized city in Ontario Canada called Kingston.

What do you do?

I make music and write poetry but overcoming drug addiction and homelessness makes it a grind. So I also work full time.

How long have you been making music?

I tried it a few times back in high school but I never fully committed to making music until just recently for about 5 months now.

Who’s your biggest inspiration?

I could say a lot here. My favorite motivational speaker who is from Detroit Eric Thomas motivates me in life in general. Where as Eminem inspires me big time in other ways. But the Canadian rapper Classified really impacted me by saying f it! I’m going to rap.

What genre of music do you create?

I make Hip-Hop/Rap

What was it like working with (collabs?)

I haven’t worked with anyone yet and don’t plan too for sometime but I will if the moment is right.

What are some features you have?

I haven’t featured with anyone yet but have some ideas of who I would love to feature with.

What are some features you want to get?

Honestly any of my favorite Canadian rappers such as Classified, Merkules, Snak The Ripper, Dax. Maestro Fresh Wes.

Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?

Eminem easy answer. Jake Strain maybe as well I mean he’s the one that gave me some hope back when I was completely have homeless.

Are you signed to a label?

No.

Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none? I would love some sort of deal one day.

Who are your biggest supporters?

I have a small solid friend group that helps me out a lot.

Where did your name come from?

Its funny I was praying to God on my knees and the name just kind of popped in my head .

What are you currently working on?

I have a few tracks in mind I’m working on.

What is your latest release?

I just dropped 5 tracks! There dope. One of them is funny and it is like a replica of an old school savage slim shady type track. Another is about partying but the rest are more serious. With one about battling anxiety, another about overcoming homelessness and how I won’t give up. The other is about the daily grind.

When is your next release?

I’m unsure but please stay tuned I’m in a better position since my last placement to drop more frequently.
