Dixon V , Florida.
Q.) What is your name/stage name?
A.) “Dixon V. I chose it because it’s simple, easy to remember, and stands out. I was going to just use Dixon, but there is already an artist with that name.“
Q.) Where are you located?
A.) “Central Florida.“
Q.) What is the meaning behind your name?
A.) “No meaning, just the name I chose.“
Q.) What are your roles within the music industry?
A.) “I play guitar, sing, rap, make beats, play piano, drums, bass, and I know the basics of mixing and audio engineering. My main instrument is guitar but I got bored of it after a while and wanted to dive into other skills because I don’t enjoy guitar enough to only do that. I perform very rarely, but mostly I am a songwriter/artist. Art is at the center of what I do.“
Q.) What got you into music?
A.) “Initially I got into it for the fame, money, and women. But I learned after a certain point, that those weren’t good enough reasons for me to continue. It led me to quit for a year. I have come back to it recently with a different purpose. I now make music because I want to put out a different cultural narrative.“
Q.) What type of music do you make?
A.) “Most of my released music is electronic and mixed genres. But I have unreleased music in the genres of rock, and blues.“
Q.) How long have you been making music?
A.) “Around 16 years. I started playing guitar at age 10.“
Q.) What are you making music for?
A.) “Like I said before, I want to change the culture of music, and entertainment in general. Young people in hip hop are going down dark paths. We need to be putting out a different message. It seems like every week a rapper gets shot. PNB rock just was killed a couple days ago. If this culture gets bad enough people won’t want to get into the game in the first place. And hip hop culture will die along with these slain rappers. Young artists these days need better guidance, period.“
Q.) Who are your biggest supporters?
A.) “My Instagram followers, family, and friends.“
Q.) Are you signed to a label?
A.) “No.“
Q.) Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
A.) “No.“
Q.) Who are some features that you have?
A.) “Jakeyaz is the only feature I have on my own music, on 2 separate songs. However I’ve been featured/produced for Jack Dosik, Austin Chapline, Jonathan Sims, and Ryan Art.“
Q.) Who’s one person dead or alive that you’d want to work with?
A.) “Kanye West. We share similar values and beliefs. I am actually not a huge Kanye Fan, and never have been. I like a couple of his songs, I am not a cult follower of Kanye. I like his image more so than his music. In my opinion, he is what an artist should be: different, innovative, and inspiring.“
Q.) Is there anybody else you want to shout out for any reason?
A.) “My guitar teachers Skip Frye and Dr Robert Phillips.“
Q.) What are you currently working on?
A.) “Currently working on an alternative rap song.“
Q.) What is your latest release?
A.) “My Song “In This Fire” is out on social media. It will be out on all platforms September 20th.“
Q.) When is your next release?
A.) “Sometime in 2023.“
