Q.) What is your name / stage name?
It’s pretty funny that you asked that, hahaha. I actually have a two-part middle name but in short, it’s Teyquil.
Q.) Where are you from?
Ahhh, I hail from the wild streets of Philadelphia. Born and raised.
Q.) What do you do?
I’m a musician actually, but during the day, I’m a teacher.
Q.) How long have you been making music?
I’ve been doing music and entertaining crowds since I was a kid my whole life. However, professionally, I’ve been doing music for three years now.
Q.) What was your first song/project?
Wow! My first song/project was the very first single I put out called “I am…” It actually isn’t a song but an introduction of who I am as an artist. It’s still one of my favorites.
Q.) Who’s your inspiration?
Oh boy, there’s quite a few. David Bowie, Marc Bolan a.k.a. T-Rex, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, James Blake, Michael Jackson and definitely, Buddy Holly.
Q.) What genre of music do you create?
I love this question! My music grips the reigns of a little bit of electronic and indiepop. I love heavy synth bass and sad boy synth keys and a relatable melody. You mesh that with a fraction of indie, BOOM!!!
Q.) What are some features you have?
If you’re speaking of music, I had the pleasure of working with Chip Reck of Pure Hell on a track of mine. Pure Hell was the first all black punk band from Philly who made a name for themselves in the 70’s.
Q.) Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
There’s two artists alive I’d love to work with and that’s Sasha Sloan and Robyn. Dead, would definitely be Marc Bolan. I’d love to create something magically weird with him.
Q.) Are you signed to a label?
I am not signed to a label. It would be pretty rad though.
Q.) Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
A distribution deal is something I’d probably take a stab at my first time around.
Q.) Who are your biggest supporters?
I get quite emotional when someone comes around to asking me this question. My biggest supporters were my parents but they’re both deceased. My cheering section was filled with lots of claps & screams
Q.) Do you write your own material?
I do write my own material. It’s one of the best parts of my process.
Q.) Do you create your own music video concepts?
No. I think I’m more of a collaborator in that aspect when it comes to sharing and discussing ideas with a director.
Q.) What’s your favorite music to listen to?
I love punk, rock n’ roll, indiepop and electronic grooves. I get down with a bit of r&b too at times.
Q.) What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on my next single called “Rhythm Back.” Can’t wait for you all to hear it.
Q.) What is your latest release?
My latest release is called “Flashy” and that hit the platforms on Jan. 5th of this year!
Q.) When is your next release?
My next release is scheduled to drop on 4/20/23
Q.) Where is one place you want to travel to perform?
OMG!!!! Thank you for this question. My two biggest places to perform are London and Sweden.
Q.) What’s the biggest crowd that you have performed for?
A while ago, I performed to a crowd of 400 folks at a club here in Philly a few years back. It was so much fun.
Q.) Who’s someone you can see yourself on tour with?
Definitely, Sasha Sloan!
Q.) Who produces your music?
I produced my own music. Now that right there, is a joy in itself.
Q.) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
On tour performing and promoting my album!!! Also, owning my own record label, and, building a school for the youth that wants to learn and do music as a career.
