A$AP Rocky is keeping quiet about Rihanna’s next musical chapter after learning that sharing details about her recording plans may not have been the best idea. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the Academy Museum Gala on October 17, the rapper joked about the reaction he received after revealing that Rihanna had returned to the studio.
“It was hell,” Rocky said with a laugh when asked about the aftermath of his earlier comments. He then admitted, “Yeah, I shouldn’t have done that.” When asked whether he wanted to clarify anything about Rihanna’s upcoming music, he declined, responding, “Nah, I’m going to mind my business.” <Cite refs={[“turn156398view0”]}/>
Rihanna’s Next Album Remains a Mystery
Rocky’s comments follow his August appearance on The Jason Lee Show, where he revealed that Rihanna was working on new music. His announcement generated excitement among fans who have been waiting for her next album since the release of ANTI in 2016.
Rihanna’s ninth studio album, commonly referred to by fans as R9, has remained one of the most anticipated unreleased projects in pop music. Although Rocky confirmed that she was back in the studio, neither he nor Rihanna has announced an official release date.
Rihanna has also offered a glimpse into how much music she has accumulated. At a recent Fenty Beauty event, she reportedly revealed that she has approximately 170 songs in her vault. However, that number does not confirm how many tracks will make the final album or when the project will arrive. <Cite refs={[“turn156398view0”]}/>
Rocky Focuses on His Own Music
While fans continue waiting for Rihanna’s next release, Rocky has been promoting his own music. He recently released “Shroom Clouds,” featuring reggie and Jeremih, as the lead single for Don’t Be Dumb (Disc 2), the deluxe follow-up to his 2026 album.
His decision to stay quiet about Rihanna’s plans leaves the singer to share updates on her own terms. For fans hoping for news about R9, Rocky’s latest comments offer no new timeline, but they suggest he is unlikely to reveal more details without Rihanna’s approval.
Until Rihanna makes an announcement herself, the album’s release date and final tracklist remain unknown.
