In an ever-evolving and highly crowded music industry, it can be difficult for independent artists to stand out. Indie artists face a multitude of obstacles, from lack of financing to canceled shows and unreliable distribution channels, which makes it harder to find an audience. But Mike T has quickly made a name for himself in the industry, with his newest release, “Coming Home,” sure to cement his rising reputation.
Michael Thompson, better known by his stage name Mike T, has seen a quick rise to fame. After releasing his debut single, “Fly as Me,” last year, Mike has gone on to work with notable names like Zaytoven. His music has thousands of streams, with one of his videos garnering 2M views on Worldstar, where he has been praised for his high energy, raw emotive vocals, and honest and heartfelt lyrics.
Described as a journey through modern life, Mike T’s lyrics address various topics, including relationships, heartbreak, and personal struggles. By touching on these subjects, he is able to establish an emotional connection with his listeners while delivering valuable life lessons. Mike T’s new song, “Coming Home,” is a perfect example of this, as it is about heartbreak and overcoming it while “teaching the importance of playing your part and not overplaying your role when dealing with others,” he describes.
With “Coming Home” giving off an early 2000s vibe, it is the perfect song to ride to or play in the club and has radio potential. The track is proving universal because everybody, whether in the past or present, has dealt with heartbreak in one form or another and overcome it. Mike T notes, “Though the description might sound sad, the song is the complete opposite—you can feel the energy and the bounce from the track, and it is infectious.”
Mike T’s story and background are also often relatable. He was raised in a single-family household. He didn’t have a father and had to see his mother work multiple jobs just to support the family. With all the hardships, Mike was “half in the street and half out.” But he knew from the get-go that this wasn’t something he wanted, and while it was hard, he stayed away from the temptation.
When Mike T decided to pursue music, not everyone welcomed the idea. But he had made up his mind, and there was no turning back. He invested in his craft and his brand. He believed in his dream and started recording music. Mike T has since released several singles and an EP, his first being released late last year. The 4 track EP has attracted massive attention across streaming platforms.
Mike T released his first album, Legends Never Die, this year in 2023, showing his versatility and ability to make music that appeals to any and every audience. With that gift and skill set, not only will he have a long, promising career in the game, but he’ll also capture the hearts of many.
“Achieving your goals is sometimes hard,” says Mike T. “But giving up isn’t an option.” With hard work and determination, you will always get there. You have to believe 110% in what you’re doing and lay everything on the line for your vision, or it’ll never come to fruition. “Ignore the outside noise and understand that the more you climb up the ladder, the more roadblocks you’ll encounter, and they get tougher and more demanding. Only those who are in it for the right reasons will survive to tell their stories,” says Mike T.

Mike T’s debut album, Legends Never Die, and his latest single, “Coming Home,” are available on Spotify and other streaming platforms, including Apple Music.
