In this interview, we delve into the highlights, defining moments, and challenges that have shaped his journey as an artist.
GenZ: WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START MAKING MUSIC?
Money Making Sace: Adversity was the driving force. When basketball didn’t work out, I needed something meaningful to channel my energy into.
GenZ: CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC STYLE?
Money Making Sace: It’s authentic and diverse. Some tracks are motivational and inspiring, while others showcase raw bars with no hooks. My music reflects who I am and where I come from.
GenZ: HOW DID YOUR MUSIC CAREER START?
Money Making Sace: It all began when I didn’t make the basketball team at my high school. It forced me to explore other talents, and writing stood out as my strong suit. From writing poems, scripts, and short films, I eventually delved into recording my first rap song over Jay-Z’s “Dead Presidents” beat, and Money Making Sace was born.
GenZ: WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR TOP 3 BIGGEST CAREER HIGHLIGHTS SO FAR?
Money Making Sace:
1) Back in 2020, I had an unforgettable moment when I crowd-surfed at the Notsouh Bar while on my rockstar vibe. It was a truly dope experience.
2) My granny’s support, or lack thereof initially, was a defining highlight for me. A couple of months ago, I sent her the link to my song “Overcome Depression,” and her approval made me realize how much my music has grown on her.
3) Streaming overseas, my music reaching international audiences has been a major highlight. From getting 0 plays on SoundCloud to having people from different countries supporting me and creating type beats for my music, it’s been an incredible journey.
GenZ: WHAT WERE TWO DEFINING MOMENTS THAT MADE YOU CERTAIN PURSUING MUSIC WAS YOUR PATH?
Money Making Sace: The first was choosing studio time over females during high school showed me that music was my true passion. I realized that if I wanted to take my music seriously, I needed to prioritize my craft over other distractions.
Second, was seeing people reciting my lyrics, word for word, was an amazing feeling that cemented my decision to pursue music. It’s a powerful connection when your audience knows and loves your songs.
GenZ: WHAT WERE TWO OF THE HARDEST POINTS IN YOUR CAREER WHERE YOU QUESTIONED YOUR PATH?
Money Making Sace: One was a label flaking on me in 2019, after showing interest in signing me was a tough blow. It made me question if I was on the right path and if my music was good enough.
The second was performing at showcases without my friends’ support, while others had their crews cheering them on, made me doubt myself. However, it also fueled my determination to make everyone in the room remember me.
GenZ: WHAT KEPT YOU GOING DURING THOSE CHALLENGING TIMES?
Money Making Sace: My persistence never wavered, but staying patient was the real challenge. I believed that everything in life happens for a reason and for my growth. If my friends didn’t show up to support, I made it my mission to win over the crowd with my music, knowing that genuine support comes from those who genuinely appreciate my art.
GenZ: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SONG TO PERFORM?
Money Making Sace: “Slugga Escobar,” hands down. The energy it brings and the connection with the audience make it a standout in my performances.
GenZ: CAN YOU SHARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE PERFORMANCES?
Money Making Sace: Performing at a bar, especially one that used to deny me entry as a teenager, was a surreal experience. When the crowd rocked with my song “Slugga Escobar,” and a white guy started doing an amusing dance, it made me realize the impact my music can have on people.
Money Making Sace’s journey is a testament to the power of determination and authenticity.
