In the quiet corners of Upstate New York, amidst the rolling hills and quiet communities, Dad Rap weaves a unique narrative through his music. Known offstage as a dedicated family man with a passion for creating rap that’s safe for all ages, Dad Rap’s journey into music began at a tender age. Inspired by the iconic beats of LL Cool J’s “BAD,” he found his calling early on, crafting rhymes and experimenting with sounds on his trusty Casio Rapman.
Fast forward to 1991, where a 12-year-old Dad Rap began penning lyrics that would later evolve into his distinctive style—lyrics that now resonate with families across the nation. His musical odyssey took a more serious turn in 2000 when he collaborated on his first rap album, performing at college gigs and honing his stage presence with a crew of like-minded artists.
But it wasn’t until recently, after taking a transformative beat-making course with DJ Jazzy Jeff, that Dad Rap found a renewed sense of purpose in his music. Fueled by nostalgia for 90s hip-hop and a desire to create content that resonates with both parents and kids, he embarked on a mission to redefine the genre.
“I want to build my own business,” Dad Rap declares, eschewing the traditional path of record labels for a more independent route. With unwavering support from his family, friends, and a growing legion of fans, he’s already making waves. From crafting his own beats to conceptualizing music videos that reflect his unique style, Dad Rap is a true artist in every sense.
His latest project, an eagerly anticipated EP, promises to showcase his evolution as an artist and storyteller. The lead single is called “That Dad Life,” the lead single has already garnered attention on YouTube, setting the stage for a summer release that’s sure to captivate listeners old and new.
Looking ahead, Dad Rap dreams of performing at iconic venues like Rockefeller Center, sharing stages with legends like Ludacris, and continuing to build a legacy that transcends generations. “In five years,” he muses, “I’ll be waking up every day to create art, supporting my family with music that speaks to the heart.”
For Dad Rap, hip-hop isn’t just a genre—it’s a platform for celebrating fatherhood, inspiring creativity, and leaving a lasting impact on the world, one beat at a time.
