Los Angeles native Wes Richardson, also known by his stage name NYC, is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and producer whose journey through music has been both passionate and persistent. With skills on drums, guitar, and piano, Wes has been immersed in music since his early teens, starting at 14 and recording seriously by 16 back in 2004.
His earliest project, Arms Akimbo, was a hardcore band where he served as lead singer and songwriter. Over time, his influences expanded, ranging from The Blood Brothers and Kanye West to The Cure, Daft Punk, Blink-182, and The Beach Boys. Today, these inspirations help fuel his unique sound—electronic punk—a style that blends raw emotion with modern edge.
Previously signed to indie label Misunderstood Records, Wes decided to move on when the label collapsed during Covid, choosing independence while seeking the right major label deal. He dreams of signing with a powerhouse like Atlantic or Universal, but only under the right circumstances.
As NYC, Wes recently released the Pastel EP, showcasing his growth as an independent artist. He is currently working on a four-song demo, with potential covers added, and plans his next release for mid-2026. While he creates his own music video concepts, he admits he’s holding back until he finds the right production quality to match his vision.
With a history of performing in front of crowds as large as 5,000, Wes hopes to expand globally, particularly to England, Wales, and Ireland, where legendary music culture thrives. Touring alongside acts like Bright Eyes or Brand New is high on his wish list.
In five years, Wes sees himself thriving in both underground and mainstream spaces—continuing to create authentic, original music that resonates with fans worldwide.
