Marquis Ross, better known as EqMuzik, is quickly becoming a name to know in the music industry. Raised in the diverse and culturally rich environment of California, EqMuzik was surrounded by various sounds that shaped his musical journey. From the lively beats of Cumbias to the smooth vibes of oldies and the hard-hitting energy of the West Coast rap scene, he was destined to find his own lane in the music world. But it wasn’t until his older cousin introduced him to rock music and showed him how to play simple melodies on a toy keyboard that his passion for creating music truly ignited.
What sets EqMuzik apart is not just his talent but also his relentless drive. While many artists would be content with staying local, EqMuzik knew his sound deserved a larger audience. His breakthrough came in 2022 when Mojoheadz Recordz took notice of his instrumentals and distributed one of his tracks. From there, his career began to gain momentum. Posting beats on platforms like RepostExchange, he quickly climbed the charts, hitting #2 with his experimental track “Love Yourself,” a mix of electronic, blues, R&B, pop, and hip-hop elements. His ability to weave together different genres resonated with fans, and by 2023, he had over 100,000 streams on SoundCloud.
2024 was a game-changer for EqMuzik. After collaborating with legendary producer Zaytoven through the Muzic Money Program, he enhanced his business knowledge and began making serious money from his beats—earning $1,000 in his first month. This success attracted attention from top-tier producers like FigurezMadeIt and artists like El Demonio, whose work hit #1 on iTunes’ Blues chart. Soon, EqMuzik’s tracks were being featured on projects involving Grammy-winning stars like SZA, Jack Harlow, and Chris Brown, propelling him into the big leagues.
EqMuzik’s versatility as a producer is one of his defining traits. Dubbed a “Super Producer,” his ability to seamlessly blend melodies and create intricate harmonies makes his music stand out in today’s industry. Each track offers listeners a fresh experience, with layers of sound that reveal something new with every listen. His genre-bending approach ensures his music appeals to a broad audience while keeping his creative edge intact.
Be on the lookout for one of his biggest upcoming collaborations, El Demonio’s track “Something I Can Drown In” featuring Jack Harlow, which is expected to drop in early 2025.
