ASAP Rocky’s fate is now in the hands of the jury. His felony assault trial is wrapping up, and after a President’s Day break, deliberations will begin on Tuesday. He’s facing two serious charges—assault with a semiautomatic firearm—and if convicted, he could serve up to 24 years in prison.
Closing arguments were delivered on Friday, with Rihanna making an appearance in court. Prosecutor John Lewin didn’t hold back, calling attention to the fact that Rocky’s children were suddenly present, saying, “You have to ask yourselves why children that age would be here in a situation like this.”
The case stems from a 2021 altercation in which Rocky allegedly fired a gun at ASAP Relli. Rocky insists he only carried a prop gun to scare off attackers and that Relli instigated the fight. His lawyer, Joe Tacopina, fired back at the prosecution, telling jurors, “Would you trust Relli’s word in the most important decision of your life?”
As the legal battle plays out, Rocky is still gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated album, Don’t Be Dumb.
