The long-standing feud between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B has flared up again, but this time, an unlikely figure is urging peace — 50 Cent. Known for his own history of rap beefs, the Queens-born mogul is calling for calm between the two hip-hop heavyweights.
The drama resurfaced after Cardi B released her new album Am I the Drama? earlier this week. Nicki Minaj appeared to mock the project’s discounted price, calling the Bronx rapper “Barney B” and posting a photoshopped image of Cardi as the purple dinosaur.
Nicki also took a jab at Cardi’s lyrical abilities, referencing her “A-B-C-D-E-F-G” rhyme scheme from Magnet. In response, Cardi fired back by dubbing Nicki “Cocaine Barbie,” while pointing out that the “Super Bass” rapper sells fewer records than major pop contemporaries like Drake, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift.
Observing the feud from afar, 50 Cent posted on Instagram on October 2:
“I hope the girls stop fighting before things escalate. I read some of the shit they are saying to each other and this is not gonna end well.”
Fans quickly flooded his comments, with one writing: “If 50 is the voice of reason, you know it’s really bad.”
Whether 50’s intervention will calm tensions between the two rap queens remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear — hip-hop’s ongoing war of words isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
