Offset Settles Major Tax Lien as Cardi B Points to Finances Delaying Divorce
Offset has cleared a significant portion of his outstanding tax issues with the federal government. According to a new report from Us Weekly, documents dated December 26, 2025 show that the Internal Revenue Service released a lien against the rapper totaling $1,575,266.73 stemming from the 2022 tax year.
Despite the progress, Offset’s tax situation isn’t fully resolved. The outlet reports he still owes a combined $778,426 related to tax years 2021 and 2023.

The update adds context to comments previously made by his estranged wife, Cardi B, who claimed unpaid taxes were the primary reason their divorce has yet to be finalized. Speaking candidly on social media last year, Cardi alleged that financial demands were holding the process hostage.
“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” she said at the time. Cardi went on to claim that finalizing the split would require her to cover millions in liabilities and give up property—terms she said she was unwilling to accept. “This is not no love s***,” she added, describing the situation as a contractual trap rather than an emotional tie.
Cardi originally filed for divorce from Offset back in 2024. While the case remains unresolved, both artists have clearly moved forward with their lives. Cardi has been publicly dating Stefon Diggs since early last year, and the couple welcomed their first child together in November.
She’s also been a regular presence cheering Diggs on during the NFL postseason. The New England Patriots advanced to the AFC Championship after a recent win, setting up a matchup against the Denver Broncos with a Super Bowl berth on the line.

As Offset works through the remainder of his tax obligations, it remains to be seen whether the latest payment will finally clear the path for a legal resolution. For now, the financial chapter appears to be turning—just as both parties continue writing new ones separately.
