Awards shows like the Grammys have always doubled as fashion runways, and this year, CeeLo Green and his son Layke made sure all eyes were on them. Although CeeLo wasn’t nominated at the 68th Grammy Awards, he still became one of the night’s most talked-about figures thanks to a bold, almost otherworldly red carpet appearance.

CeeLo opted for a relatively relaxed outfit—a bright red sweater accented with white and black—but quickly pushed things into dramatic territory with red contact lenses and gothic-style eye makeup. When asked by ET about the striking look, he joked that it was natural before clarifying that he simply wanted to “keep it interesting.” The result was subtle by his standards, yet impossible to ignore.
Standing beside him was his 25-year-old son Layke, who fully embraced theatrical flair. Layke’s face paint strongly evoked classic KISS imagery, paired with a red mesh top, furry vest, black leather pants, and spiked gauntlets. The look leaned heavily into rock theatrics, channeling the spirit of larger-than-life stage personas long associated with legends like Ace Frehley. Together, the father-son duo transformed the carpet into a performance of its own.

During the interview, Layke also explained the meaning behind his name, saying it creates an “aura of mystery” and makes someone feel “bigger than a human being,” a fitting description given the night’s visuals. Born Kingston Callaway, he clearly sees identity as part of artistic expression.
Before leaving the carpet, CeeLo gave a shoutout to Clipse, whose Grammy win for “Chains & Whips” contributed to Kendrick Lamar’s historic night. That victory helped Kendrick surpass Jay-Z to become the most awarded rapper in Grammy history.
Even without nominations, CeeLo and Layke proved that at the Grammys, presence can be just as powerful as trophies.
