Joey Vells is an independent artist and producer representing Jersey City, New Jersey, carving his lane with melodic hip-hop, rap, and R&B rooted in real emotion and self-belief. His journey into music began early in church, where he played the drums as a kid—an experience that shaped his rhythm, musical ear, and spiritual connection to sound.
That foundation evolved into recording, leading to his first official release, “No Distractions.” Joey’s sound is influenced by artists such as Gunna, Future, and R. Kelly, with additional inspiration from artists like Usher. These influences show up in his melodic choices, emotional delivery, and ability to float between rap and R&B with ease.
Joey writes all of his own lyrics, letting the beat dictate the direction while pulling from personal experiences and shifting moods. Each song reflects a different frequency—sometimes introspective, sometimes confident, always intentional. Outside of his own genre, he enjoys listening to gospel and jazz, as well as frequency tones, which further inform the atmosphere and depth of his music.
Remaining fully independent, Joey is currently open to a distribution deal, while keeping creative control firmly in his hands. His biggest support system has been himself—pushing forward even when no one else did. His sound is shaped closely with help from his brother Dee, known professionally as 9111, who serves as both producer and personal engineer.
On January 19, Joey Vells released his latest single, “No Distractions,” available on major streaming platforms. He’s now working on a full album alongside visuals designed to fully captivate listeners. Performances so far have ranged up to 75–100 people, but his vision stretches much further—dreaming of stages like Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, MetLife Stadium, and other iconic New York and New Jersey venues.
Looking five years ahead, Joey Vells sees himself among the biggest names in music, ranked high and recognized globally—focused, consistent, and truly living with no distractions.
