Diddy’s Prison Release Date Moved Up Again as Appeal Efforts Intensify

Sean “Diddy” Combs is inching closer to freedom. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, the Bad Boy founder’s release date has been shifted up 10 days to April 15, 2028—marking the second reduction to his sentence. A previous adjustment had already trimmed more than a month from his time behind bars.

Diddy is currently serving his sentence at Fort Dix in New Jersey, a medium-security facility he specifically requested due to its drug rehabilitation programs. He was convicted last summer on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, avoiding more serious charges that prosecutors had pursued.

The date change comes as his legal team aggressively pursues an appeal announced in December. His lawyers argue the sentence represents a “perversion of justice,” claiming the court failed to adequately consider that the sexual activity was consensual. In a March 13 filing, they demanded “immediate release and a judgment of acquittal” or at minimum, a resentencing. Oral arguments are scheduled for April 9.

Prosecutors aren’t budging. In their response, they urged the court not to ignore how Diddy allegedly carried out his crimes—citing violent beatings, threats, deception, and drugging of victims. They characterized his appeal arguments as asking the court to “close its eyes” to the full scope of his conduct.

Meanwhile, Diddy has unwittingly resurfaced in headlines through J. Cole’s recent appearance on Cam’ron’s Talk With Flee podcast. Cole referenced their infamous 2013 MTV VMAs after-party altercation but refused to elaborate, explaining that while he once considered sharing the story, Diddy’s current legal troubles made it feel like “kicking a man when he’s down.”

With his appeal hearing days away and his release date now slightly sooner, Diddy’s camp is clearly hoping for a dramatic reversal of fortune.
