Atlanta rapper and singer-songwriter, Joshua Nathaniel has released a flurry of singles in Rapid succession in the last couple months. The most mention worthy of them all would be his feature performance on The Jake Strain and Afroman anthemic cypher “Getting it Back” which was released back in March and has amassed just under 200K streams.
Having recently pivoted from his Niño Brown projectand expanded his sound, Joshua Nathaniel has touched on such genres as EDM, Country and of course Rap. His most recent offering, “The Finalist” is in no uncertain terms a scorching rebuttal in some undefined conflict with an artist scratching and clawing to avoid a career path of eminent obscurity. Such is the case in the world of rap, younger, less experienced artists simply seem to need an excuse to start drama and leverage that to elevate their profile which is exactly how the story plays out frame by frame on “The Finalist”. The vivid imagery paints a picture of a seasoned rapper and veteran of the street, detailing accounts from the trenches and even references in homage to such rap beef grails as Drake’s “back to back”. An absolute banger of a track and fits well in any playlist no matter the mood.
