Interview With Long Beaches Own “600hurts ”

What is your name/stage name?

I go by 600hurts.

Where are you from?

Long Beach, son!

What do you do?

Well i’m a musician first and foremost. I write, rap, sing, engineer, and occasionally produce. Outside of that I am also a writer, aspiring anime showrunner, and expensive sub sandwich aficionado.(I take a lot of pride in that last one)

How long have you been making music?

As a career? Since 2017, but my relationship with music goes back way further.

What was your first song/project?

I was actually in a group first, we had a song called “Fresh Prince”. My friends and I had some real talent, hope to work with them again.

Who’s your inspiration?

Shoooot, we gonna be here all day. If i had to narrow it to how i’m feeling right now, it would consist of MF DOOM, Lauryn Hill, Kendrick, Lil Uzi, Isaiah Rashad, and Kid Cudi. And that’s a really short version.

What are some features you have?

Nobody that well-known yet, but I’ve worked with talented Long Beach artists like Nigel Jordan, LIBRASTAR, and Glizzy Grey. Not to mention my boys Ethanielas and Zenden Lavon.

Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?

Smino.

Are you signed to a label?

No sir.

Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?

I would like a distribution deal of sorts, I definitely could use help getting my sound into more folks ears.

Who are your biggest supporters?

Honestly my friends and family. Especially the women in my life; mom, step mom, home girls and so on have been vocal supporters that spread my music far and wide and I can’t thank every person that’s shared my music enough.

What are you currently working on?

I got three projects on the way. SKI MASK MUZIK, my next solo outing is almost done and i cant wait to share. As for the other two, all i can say is the collab tape is fully recorded.

What is your latest release?

I recently had a 6 track run that I titled 600sundays. It consisted of 6 individual tracks released on a weekly basis. I consider that one project, personally.

When is your next release?

Got no dates, yet.

Where is one place you want to travel to perform?

Everyone who knows me knows I want to live and die in Japan, performances included.

What’s the biggest crowd that you have performed for?

I can’t put an exact number, but a good sized bar/club in Downtown LA, so you could picture the size

Who’s someone you can see yourself on tour with?

Isaiah Rashad or Kid Cudi I suppose.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years i better be on a damn tour bus complaining about touring being fed exquisite cheeses and whatnot by a queen.
