The COVID-19 pandemic has inevitably affected the lives of many people around the world. Countless lives have been lost, while thousands of others struggle to deal with the effects of illness. Most of us are still dealing with the reality that we are living through history and that things might never be the same again. Norman Towns believes that this is an opportunity to redefine our existence as human beings. To learn, explore, and find our passion for new things. Has the suffering and mental exhaustion been worth it?
Norman Towns is a professional actor who feels as though the experiences he has endured through the current pandemic have compelled him to rethink his ambitions. He has been in the entertainment business for more than ten years, always striving for excellence in all his endeavors. His comical performance, demeanor, and personality enable him to stand out among many others in the industry. However, this year has been challenging for Norman Towns as he admits that the number of acting roles and gigs have tremendously reduced. But this has not stopped him from exploring the heights of his potential.
A famous Chinese proverb affirms that a bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song. Prior to taking an acting role, Norman Towns tries to break down the script and the character he’s representing. This gives him a chance to understand who the audience wants to see, hear, or relate with. It is an analogy that he began applying when he created the lyrics to the first rap song. Confined in his home due to the lockdown rules, he realized that there is power in expressing his thoughts and situations through writing. He knew that thousands of other people in the world would empathize with his appeal in difficult times.
He had the words and a talent that was waiting to be expressed. Rapping gave him a chance to break the cycle of boredom, but in reality, he was experimenting on a newly found talent. With the help of friends and mentors, he was also inspired to continue playing musical instruments with a particular focus on the piano. One of the greatest lessons he learned during this period is the importance of being persistent and patient. Just like acting, this newly found passion needs to be taken care of, and nurtured, but at the end of it all, he tried something new.
While Norman Towns’ acting career has been temporarily paused, a passion for music has rejuvenated his existence. He is using this opportunity to give people hope that things will be better, eventually!
