Eugene “Big U” Henley is continuing to fight back against sweeping federal RICO charges, firmly denying the allegations brought against him. While a newly filed superseding indictment references conversations about late rapper Nipsey Hussle, prosecutors have not accused Henley of playing any role in Nipsey’s 2019 murder.
According to reports, federal authorities allege they intercepted phone calls in late 2022 and early 2023 in which Henley, described as a longtime figure associated with the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, made statements about his influence. In one call cited by prosecutors, Henley allegedly described himself as “bigger” than Nipsey and claimed to have disciplined him. In another, he allegedly made violent remarks about how he handles personal disputes, though officials have not tied those statements to the rapper’s death.

The broader case against Henley centers on accusations that he maintained influence through intimidation and threats across Los Angeles. Prosecutors claim he warned alleged associates about potential violence, referenced confrontations involving Nipsey in the past, and boasted about operating freely in rival gang territory. Additional allegations in the indictment include threats toward local businesses, firearm possession claims, and even contraband smuggling schemes involving prison phone sales.
Henley has denied all accusations tied to the federal RICO case. He has also publicly rejected any suggestion of involvement in Nipsey Hussle’s killing, reportedly issuing a cease-and-desist to the media platform No Jumper after it discussed potential links.
As the case unfolds, prosecutors appear to be expanding their narrative with additional claims, while Henley maintains his innocence. The legal battle is expected to intensify as both sides prepare for what could become a closely watched federal trial.
