The long-running tension between DJ Akademiks and Lil Baby has intensified in recent weeks, with both figures exchanging public challenges and harsh words. What began as a war of criticism has now evolved into a potential musical confrontation after plans for a boxing match reportedly collapsed.
The latest chapter of their feud was sparked in late January when Akademiks reacted to claims that Lil Baby’s associate, K-Rich, had slapped him. The controversial media personality responded aggressively during a livestream, calling out the Atlanta rapper directly and accusing him of avoiding a face-to-face confrontation. Akademiks insisted he was ready to settle their differences physically and challenged Lil Baby to step into the ring.
Surprisingly, Lil Baby initially appeared open to the idea. Popular streamer Adin Ross even attempted to organize a boxing match between the two through his promotional platform. However, according to Akademiks, the plan quickly fell apart due to Lil Baby’s reported demand for $40 million to participate. Akademiks later mocked the price tag during a livestream, suggesting it was simply a way for the rapper to avoid the fight.
Frustrated by the failed boxing arrangement, Akademiks claimed he explored alternative ways to compete with Lil Baby, including hypothetical challenges like intellectual contests and even a rap battle. He expressed confidence that he could outperform the rapper in multiple areas, not just physically but creatively.
Now, Akademiks says he is shifting his focus back to music. He hinted at reviving his rap alter ego, “Lil Ak,” and teased the possibility of releasing an AI-assisted diss track or project aimed directly at Lil Baby. Akademiks argued that artificial intelligence could play a major role in the future of music, suggesting it could help him deliver sharper lyrical attacks.
While their feud has been fueled by recent incidents, tensions between Akademiks and Lil Baby date back several years, largely driven by Akademiks’ criticism of the rapper’s music and public image. With both sides continuing to trade threats and taunts, the conflict shows no signs of slowing down—and may soon play out in the form of diss tracks rather than a boxing ring.
