On December 12, 2024, a Los Angeles judge denied Lil Durk’s bond request in his murder-for-hire case. The rapper’s attorneys had proposed a substantial bond backed by Sony Music and property equity, but the judge deemed it insufficient to guarantee community safety. The case involves Durk allegedly orchestrating a hit on rapper Quando Rondo, which led to the death of his cousin.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ian Yanniello opposed Durk’s release, arguing, “As the allegations in this case make abundantly clear, Mr. Banks wasn’t on the street pulling the trigger. He was the one who allegedly orchestrated the [murder-for-hire]. He was giving the green light to book the flights.”
Prosecutors claim that Durk financed flights, firearms, and other resources for five affiliates of his Only The Family (OTF) label—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—in a plot to kill rapper Quando Rondo in 2022. The hit, which took place in Los Angeles, tragically resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.
Durk was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Miami on the night of October 24, following the apprehension of his associates. The FBI later revealed that Durk had attempted to flee the country by booking flights from South Florida airports and a private jet.
Durk’s attorney, Drew Findling, dismissed claims linking the rapper to another 2022 murder, that of Stephon Mack, saying, “That’s other people. Our client has nothing to do with that.”
