Daddy Yankee has reached a partial resolution with his estranged wife, Mireddys González, following accusations that she withdrew $100 million from two of his companies without his consent. The reggaeton star appeared calm and composed as he arrived at a court hearing in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Friday (December 20). Dressed in a sharp black suit and tie, he briefly addressed reporters, downplaying the situation. “These things happen,” he commented before entering the courthouse.
The legal dispute stems from Daddy Yankee’s claims that González transferred significant funds from his companies without authorization. During the hearing, the couple reached a “good faith” agreement, allowing Daddy Yankee to regain control of his business ventures. Effective December 26, the reggaeton icon will assume the role of president at both El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, ensuring his creative and business direction remains intact.
After the hearing, Daddy Yankee spoke respectfully about González, urging the media to maintain privacy and show respect for her. “I have always respected Mrs. González, and I ask that you respect her as well,” he said. The couple, who married in 1995 and have two children together, were seen as a long-standing example of marital stability in the public eye. However, their nearly 30-year union came to an end earlier this month, coinciding with Daddy Yankee’s decision to dedicate himself to Christianity.
While navigating the personal challenges of their separation, Daddy Yankee remains focused on his faith and future. As he takes control of his professional career once again, his resilience and commitment to his values continue to shape his legacy as a transformative force in global music.
