Exclusive Interview With Conrad

What’s your name ?

My name is Harrison Dromey but for my producer/artist name, I go by the name CONRAD (spelled with all caps). The name comes from my favorite song “Conrad” by an artist named Ben Howard. He just put out a pretty dope album too called “Collections From the Whiteout”. It’s very Radiohead-esk if Radiohead was more acoustic.

Where are you from?

I’m from Atlanta. Lived there my whole life but I am currently a student at Auburn University.

When did you start making music?

So it all started back in 4th grade when one of our neighbors who taught music at an elementary school showed my neighborhood friends and I how to play in a band. It was really dope. We would play at coffee shops and bars as 10 year olds… and even got on the cover of a local magazine. After that gig, I picked up guitar in 9th grade and taught myself how to play and sing and performed open mic nights throughout high school. Now i play and sing in a band called Empty Handed here at Auburn. On the producing side of things, I’m still pretty new. I’ve been investing a TON of time into learning FL Studio and I can tell I am improving at a great rate.

Where can we find you mostly, in the studio or in the club?

My friends notoriously make fun of me for spending more time alone making music than hanging out with them haha.

Who is your childhood hero?

My childhood hero is the previously mentioned Ben Howard. His music inspired me to pick up the guitar in 9th grade and really sparked my love for the craft of songwriting! I even saw him live at the Red Rocks amphitheater and that concert was the only time he played “Conrad” on his tour. It was an incredible experience.

What’s the best way for someone reading this to find you on social media, what’s your main platform?

TWITTER AND INSTAGRAM. Can’t stress enough how important those are to see what’s going on with me personally. I like to post snippets of beats I am working on on Instagram and I’m always posting on Twitter too. Go blow them up!

Do you have anything to share with the fans, any hints on new songs or collaborations?

Right now, I’m in kahoots with my friend LaRock who has been putting out some trippy hip-hop stuff recently. Maybe you’ll see me in a music video with him over the summer so be on the lookout! I’m also working everyday to improve my producing skills by making beats and uploading them to Beatstars but the final goal is to use the money from making beats to buy the equipment and plugins that I envision using on the EP i have planned. Me and the band I’m in now are also working up an hours worth of material so we can play local shows. Exciting stuff is in the works for sure!
