Sethecus | Missouri
Q.) What is your name/stage name?
A.) “My name is Seth Bishop and my rap name is Sethecus.“
Q.) Where are you located?
A.) “I grew up in Lee’s Summit, which is a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. I now go to college in Branson, Missouri.“
Q.) What is the meaning behind your name?
A.) “My big cousin used to always call me Sethecus when we were kids. I’m not really sure where he got it from and he was the only person that called me that, but it was the only nickname I ever really had so it stuck.“
Q.) What are your roles within the music industry?
A.) “I’m a rapper. I try to be as self-sufficient as possible so I usually make my own beats and mix and master myself.“
Q.) What got you into music?
A.) “I’ve always loved music since I was little. I have fond memories of singing along to my favorite songs from a very young age. Over the years, I’ve gone through a lot of phases with what types of music I enjoyed the most. I became a huge Michael Jackson fan when I was in 2nd grade. He was the first artist I really fell in love with. In 7th grade, I got really into The Beatles. I had been exposed to rap from an early age, but in 8th grade it finally became my favorite genre.“
Q.) What type of music do you make?
A.) “I make Hip-Hop/Rap music and I also dabble in R&B.“
Q.) How long have you been making music?
A.) “I first started recording music and releasing it on SoundCloud during the summer of 2020. I did that for a couple of years and then I started releasing music on all platforms in July of 2022.“
Q.) What are you making music for?
A.) “I started making music because I really just felt like I could. I’ve experimented with making beats and writing songs since elementary but I didn’t start taking it seriously until I wrote a song called ‘Square One’. That song was inspired by me getting ghosted by a girl I was talking to at the time. I put my feelings into lyrics and surprised myself with what was the first complete feeling song I had written at that time. I decided I wanted to start rapping so I started putting songs out.“
Q.) What’s driving you?
A.) “I’m really just driven by my passion and love for music. It’s a dream of mine that I can turn this into a career because I don’t think there’s anything else I would rather do. It’s a really good outlet for my feelings and I love the thrill I get whenever I finish a new song or project.“
Q.) Who are your biggest supporters?
A.) “My biggest supporters are my family and friends. My parents believe in me and encourage me a lot.“
Q.) Are you signed to a label?
A.) “No, I’m independent.“
Q.) Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
A.) “I would be open to a deal after I graduate from college.“
Q.) Who are some features that you have?
A.) “I have features from KingOz and Tuff Cakes.“
Q.) What was it like working with (collab)?
A.) “They are a couple of my close friends so it’s a blast working with them.“
Q.) Who are some features you want to get?
A.) “I would love to work with so many artists but I think it would be insane to work with The Weeknd!“
Q.) Who’s one person dead or alive that you’d want to work with?
A.) “The Weeknd for someone alive, Michael Jackson would be crazy if that was possible.“
Q.) Is there anybody else you want to shout out for any reason?
A.) “I just want to say thank you to anybody that believes in the vision. I know that not everyone takes me seriously now, but if everything works out, I won’t forget my day one supporters!“
Q.) What are you currently working on?
A.) “I’m getting ready to start working on my debut album.“
Q.) What is your latest release?
A.) “My latest release is called ‘fine w/ me’. I dropped it a couple months ago and it was the first R&B song I’ve made so far. I’m going to continue dabbling in that genre from time to time.“
Q.) When is your next release?
A.) “I actually have a new song dropping Friday, April 7th. This one’s called ‘Gangsta Shawty’. Be sure to check it out, it’s definitely different from most songs out right now. I cooked up an 80’s funk type beat and then rapped over it. I love how it turned out.“
