“From Prison Walls to the Mic: The Story of World”

When most artists start their careers, they have a clear passion for music. But for Tony, aka World, his journey into the world of hip hop wasn’t driven by a lifelong dream to become an artist. In fact, it all began almost by accident. Tony had just come home from a stint in prison when a friend invited him to the studio. What was meant to be a simple support visit turned into an unforgettable moment. “I got talked into laying down a verse,” he laughs, recalling the day that changed his life. The feedback was instant and overwhelming—he was hooked. The crowd responded, and he couldn’t deny the connection. “There was no way I wasn’t fuccin wit it,” he says with a smile.

Though his journey was unexpected, it was clear from the start that Tony had something raw and real to offer the world. His style? Melodic. It’s the kind of music that blends vulnerability with strength, speaking to anyone who has faced pain or adversity. “Everybody has hurt, everybody can identify with pain,” Tony says, reflecting on how his music resonates with his audience. His sound connects on a deep level, and it’s his openness and honesty that makes his tracks so relatable.

Even though he’s had his fair share of challenges—like getting scammed by DJ Empire over a fake management contract—World has learned to roll with the punches. “My music is my therapy,” he shares, explaining how music has become more than just a career for him—it’s his healing tool. Having faced two prison sentences, Tony’s perseverance is undeniable. “I’ve been through a lot, but I keep pushing. I look ahead and see goals in front of me,” he says.

Despite the challenges, World remains fiercely independent. “I’m truly independent,” he declares. His approach to collaborations is simple: stay true to his vision and use music as a platform to express his truth, the things he might never say in everyday life. His music is an extension of himself, and he ensures it’s always raw and real.

As he continues his journey, World has big plans for the future. His upcoming single, A Promise, is dedicated to the woman in his life and is a perfect example of the deep emotional connection he’s built with his craft. “It’s a song for my old lady,” he says, a personal note to a track that will undoubtedly resonate with fans.
