The Australian native has released her Debut single ‘Still Here’ in the midst of the pandemic despite the country being in lock down. From false starts with Sony music, the untimely death of A&R executive Jay Dee Springbett in 2011, Injury and personal tragedy and a whole lot of life in-between her music is finally being heard around the world, The album yet to be titled is a contrast of light and shade, there are the tracks that are swept up in the romanticism of falling in love like the debut single still here (which has been described as an ode to love) lullaby and flutter which chronicles the rush of adrenaline and connection when first meeting a romantic interest and then there is the gritty dark side of lust and infatuation with the soul blend of pop and rock with tracks like Break the chain, I am woman and black widow which take the listener on a thrilling ride both lyrically and rhythmically.
How would you describe your music? I would describe my music as a blend of soul, pop, rock and Rnb I am very inspired by the way the 80’s were able to blend the genres into a fluid transition between tracks yet remain under the umbrella term of pop.
What is the first album you owned? the first album I owned was Prince Diamonds and pearls I got it for my birthday and I was way too young.
The first album I bought myself was Michael Jackson thriller and all of Ricky martin’s albums
How do you prepare before going on stage? it is usually me feeling super nervous and then switching on auto pilot and letting the adrenaline take over and giving the performance my all.
Who are your musical aspirations? Female: Whitney Mariah Janet and Selena,
Male: Michael Jackson Prince and Ricky martin, i’ve been luck enough to have met both Prince and Ricky
Most memorable performance moment? does it have to be one of mine? Because hands down its having Prince sing a portion of beautiful ones to me.
What is the story behind your Debut single still Here? when I was writing for the album I was thinking a lot about how there are a lot of songs about falling in love, unrequited love, obsessing about love but not a lot about the after parts of falling in the love and the day to day securities of having someone love you unconditionally and that’s the place still here was conceived from.
If you were forced to pick, what would you pick the money or the fame?
To me this question depends on wether you want to be rich or wether you want to be remembered and if I were being completely honest I would want to be remembered
What song has been stuck in your head lately? oye como va – Tito Puente it always pops into my head randomly.
Oye com ova mi rhitmo bueno pa’ gozar………
If we were going to buy you a drink what would it be?
Tequila (Epsolon reposado)
