Welcome, my name is Clark and I am the newest contributor to Gen-Z Hip Hop! My plan is to bring light to as many deserving artists as possible. Some may have a strong base already, and other may not have a fan to their name. The only standards I am looking for is a person who believes in their music and a sound that needs to be heard by the masses. With all that being said, let’s meet Montreal’s very own Katie Clarke.
Q: I know everyone everyone hates comparison, so how would you describe your musical style to someone who has never heard you before.
I would describe my music style as Pop and R&b, but I like to switch it up from time to time depending on my mood.
Q: As an artist, it is kind of hard not to have influences. What is the first album you ever owned?
Honestly I don’t remember, but my mother had owned quite a few that I grew up listening to and I would consider them as ours.
I spent most of my childhood listening to albums by Mariah Carey, Christian Aguilera ,& Beyoncé.
I’ve definitely taken some inspirations from them and other artists along the years, however I don’t normally hold back too much from being influenced by others Artists as I’m pretty confident in what makes me unique on my own.
I’ve more learned to use my influences as a tool to help me create different vibes, and styles to my music.
Q: So that tells me you are big into actually making a scene when you step out onto the stage How do you prepare beforehand?
Well for most of my experiences so far in live performances, I would sort of just happen to past by an opportunity to sing for people, and I would just sing , without having time to prepare.
Although if ever I had time to prepare, I would do my best to look the part as well as doing small vocal warm ups.
Q: Okay lets do a little rapid fire so we can get to know YOU! If we’re going to buy you a drink, what should it be?
A white chocolate mocha!
Q: If you could go back in time or in the future which one would you choose and why?
I’d go back in the past. I feel like there are a few decisions that I could have made differently that might have changed my predicament in life mentally and physically for the better.
But I guess I’ll never know 🙂
Q: What’s a song that has been stuck in your head these days?
Finesse by Drake
Q: If you could pick one or the other what would you choose, the money or the fame?
Money for sure.
Q: Who’s your favorite artist?
I can’t pick just one artist but my top 3 right now would be Drake, Ariana Grande, and Chris Brown.
Q: Okay okay, you seem like you are very well in tune with what is currently trending in the world. So Tell us a little about the first song you ever made Was it something you would be proud of?
I remember anticipating writing my first song for days before I actually wrote it. When I finally did, it came to me quickly, and I would say it turned out okay. I haven’t released it yet, but I may do so anonymously in the future and let the fans be the judge of that.
Q: What is the story behind Katie Clarke?
I’m a self taught musician from Montreal, Canada trying to make it in the music industry.
Music is and has always been my passion.
After many years of learning how to sing , write , produce ,and mix my own songs, I now dedicate everyday to creating more music and putting myself out there as an Artist, in hopes to find an opportunity to bring this dream career of mine to life.
Thank you so much Katie for sitting down with me and being the first ever artist I get to cover as a part of the Gen-Z family. I really hope that you get the opportunity to become that superstar that you seem determined to be.
