J. Cole in a dimly lit studio, mic in hand, layered with subtle vinyl textures and classic hip-hop imagery—boom boxes, dusty MPC pads—hinting at a mixtape revival ahead of a major album release.
J. Cole is already building serious momentum ahead of his upcoming album The Fall-Off, but it looks like fans may be getting even more music than expected. According to Jadakiss, Cole has a mixtape lined up to arrive before the highly anticipated album drops in early February.
The revelation came during a recent episode of the Joe & Jada Podcast, co-hosted by Jadakiss and Fat Joe. During the conversation, Jadakiss revealed that the Dreamville star has been revisiting classic beats—specifically from The LOX—and absolutely snapping on them.
According to Kiss, Cole rhymes over iconic instrumentals like “Money, Power & Respect” and “Can I Live,” delivering verses that reminded him exactly why Cole remains one of the sharpest lyricists in the game. Jadakiss didn’t hold back his praise, adding that Cole “killed” both tracks and is returning with undeniable energy.
The comments have only fueled speculation that Cole is preparing a two-project rollout. Rumors suggest the mixtape—possibly titled It’s a Boy—could arrive on January 28, aligning with his 40th birthday. Notably, It’s a Boy is a name Cole himself mentioned when he first announced The Fall-Off back in 2020, making the theory feel even more plausible.
Adding to the mystery, Cole recently released “Disc 2 Track 2,” a move many fans interpret as a hint that The Fall-Off could be a double album—or at least paired with a companion project. Either way, anticipation is reaching a boiling point.
What is confirmed is that The Fall-Off is being positioned as Cole’s seventh—and final—studio album, marking the close of a monumental chapter in modern hip-hop. In a heartfelt message accompanying his recent release, Cole described the album as a decade-long personal challenge to deliver his best work yet, not just for himself, but for the culture.
With whispers of a mixtape, classic beat takeovers, and a career-defining album on the horizon, J. Cole’s next few weeks are shaping up to be nothing short of historic.
