Riq, also known as Icant, hails from the streets of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but his soul is currently wandering the streets of Dallas, Texas. His journey into the world of music began with a simple fascination for sounds, which eventually turned into a passion to express his life experiences through music.

“I would always hear music and just be into the sounds and want to do music my own way as a way to vent life,” he says.

This venting of life has led Riq to some notable achievements. With a growing Instagram following (@1cantx), he’s been making waves lately, attributing his success to his unique style and sound.

“I would say I have my own sound mixed with an overthinker’s mind at ease,” Riq explains.

And resonate his music does, touching the souls of his audience with its refreshing originality and fusion of genres.

“In every way I would say because it’s so different and I do a lot of mixed genres,” he notes.

Despite his independent spirit, Riq values collaboration, building genuine connections with fellow musicians and producers.

“I get on their beats and make genuine connections,” he affirms.

While he’s never worked with a team before, Riq is proud of his personal growth and the evolution of his music.

“My views I would say and me getting better. I’m able to do underground sound, hip hop, R&B, etc,” he reflects.

Challenges have been plenty, but Riq’s determination keeps him pushing forward.

“I’ve been through the bottom of the bottom and still keep pushing/thriving,” he shares.

Engaging with his fans on social media is a crucial part of Riq’s strategy. He responds to messages with appreciation and takes an interest in their lives.

“I message them back with appreciation and get in tune with what they do in their own life,” he says.

Looking ahead, Riq has a treasure trove of unreleased songs waiting to be unleashed on the world. And when it comes to distribution, he’s open to a deal.

“Yes,” he says simply.
