Terrell McSee, better known as Smokey Da Bandit, is no stranger to the music industry. Hailing from the streets of Chicago, Smokey has been crafting his unique brand of Hip-Hop and Rap for over 30 years. As an independent artist, he’s built a career around raw talent, powerful collaborations, and a relentless work ethic.
His journey began with his debut track, “Soul Snatchin”, featured on his first project, The Flesh is Weak… The Soul is Immortal. Smokey credits much of his musical inspiration to his uncle and aunt, whose love for music helped him find his voice. His sound is deeply rooted in Hip-Hop, with a storytelling edge that reflects the streets of Chicago and the struggles of life.
Over the years, Smokey has worked with some of the biggest names in the game, including Daz Dillinger, Crucial Conflict, Do or Die, T-Rock, and Gangsta Pat. But when asked who he’d love to collaborate with, dead or alive, Smokey doesn’t hesitate: Kanye West is the one. Smokey admires Kanye’s creative genius and the way he constantly pushes the boundaries of music.
His latest release, “Roll Another Wood”, continues to generate buzz. With a heavy bassline and infectious rhythm, the track embodies the essence of Smokey’s hard-hitting style. Currently, Smokey is laser-focused on promoting his latest projects, working with his go-to producers, Koto Murphy and Classic Jones. His long-term vision? Headlining his own tour and snagging a Grammy within the next five years.
Though he’s performed for countless large crowds, Smokey still dreams big. Japan is one of the places he hopes to bring his music to, envisioning performances that transcend borders. And while he’s open to sharing the stage with a variety of artists, Smokey’s already proven his ability to hold his own alongside legends.
Smokey Da Bandit continues to write all his material and conceptualize his music videos, staying true to his creative vision. For fans, his music is a reflection of his life, a testament to his perseverance, and a celebration of the culture he grew up in.
