Hip-hop legend Rakim, widely hailed as The God MC, is back with his highly anticipated project The Re-Up. The release follows the hit single and video “Not To Be Defined,” which is closing in on seven million views. The track features Detroit artist Lazarus, a global hip-hop talent and board-certified physician who famously premiered the first song from outer space and has been recognized by the U.S. Library of Congress.
2025 has been a milestone year for Rakim. He became the first rapper to receive the prestigious Peabody Medal and served as the commencement speaker at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Conservatory graduation, where he also received an honorary degree.
The Re-Up showcases Rakim’s signature lyricism alongside fresh material, including the solo single “I’m Good,” produced by Big Ghost. The project highlights his legendary status while pushing the boundaries of hip-hop with innovative sounds and perspectives.
