Kodak Black’s legal troubles are far from over as the rapper is set to remain in jail for an additional four weeks. Judge Jose E. Martinez is taking extra time to review the details of the case, specifically focusing on whether Kodak Black’s supervised release should be revoked. The next hearing, scheduled for Feb. 21, will determine the rapper’s fate.
This extension comes after Black’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, sought to dismiss charges related to the possession of oxycodone, arguing that the rapper had a valid prescription. The charges stem from a December 2023 incident where an officer discovered cocaine during a traffic stop, but Black’s legal team insists it was a case of mistaken identity and that the substance was, in fact, oxycodone.
In an Instagram Live session following his arrest, Kodak Black provided his perspective on the incident, stating, “I was on lean, asleep in front of my family house, that’s it.” The rapper openly admitted to using methamphetamine and Percocets but vehemently denied being involved with cocaine, asserting, “I ain’t no baser. I ain’t no junkie.”
