In a surprise Valentine’s Day treat, Drake dropped the much-anticipated music video for “Rich Baby Daddy,” a collaborative track featuring Sexyy Red and SZA from his latest album, ‘For All The Dogs.’ The six-minute video, shot in a candid home video format, captures the dynamic duo playing expectant parents, with SZA making a notable appearance in the laughter-filled scenes, including the lively hospital sequence during and after the child’s birth.
The social media frenzy that ensued was unavoidable, as fans and critics alike flooded Twitter with their reactions. One user, NATERERUN, couldn’t contain their excitement, exclaiming, “Drake kissing Sexyy Red’s baby bump is taking me out.” Meanwhile, MrXoppi praised Drake and SZA for pushing the boundaries of storytelling in the genre, stating, “It’s intriguing to see such a raw moment like Sexyy Red’s water breaking being portrayed in a music video.”
In a Billboard interview, Sexyy Red shared the backstory of the collaboration, revealing that her inclusion in Drake’s “It’s All A Blur Tour” paved the way for the creation of “Rich Baby Daddy.” “Me and Drake already were cool ever since he brought me on his tour,” she explained. “We talked about doing songs, then he put SZA on it.”
“Rich Baby Daddy” is a standout track from Drake’s eighth studio album, featuring a star-studded lineup including Teezo Touchdown, 21 Savage, J. Cole, Lil Yachty, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Chief Keef, and more. The album, released in October 2023, received critical acclaim, and one month later, fans were treated to the deluxe Scary Hours Edition, boasting six additional Hip Hop-heavy cuts.
