From the sun-soaked streets of Kingston, Jamaica, to the vibrant music scene of Broward County, Florida, Davo is a force in the world of R&B, dancehall, and hip hop. As a multifaceted artist, musician, and actor, he has crafted a unique space for himself in the music industry, blending genres and influencing sounds from across the globe. His latest single, “One Down”, is showcasing his versatility, fusing rhythmic dancehall beats with R&B smoothness to create a track that hits hard while staying soulful.
Born in Kingston and raised around music from a young age, Davo’s passion for music started early.
“I’ve been making music since I was 7 years old,” he shares. “Growing up, I had a lot of inspiration from artists like Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, and my dad, Junior Marvin, who’s a legendary guitarist. I was also influenced by Rorytruestory and Pharell”
But his father, in particular, has had a significant influence on his musical journey, not only inspiring him musically but also providing a legacy that Davo continues to build on. Fun fact: Davo even plays his father in the recently released, box office block-buster film Bob Marley biopic ONE LOVE, showcasing his deep connection to his roots.
Despite his early start, it wasn’t until he joined forces with Tory Lanez that Davo’s career began to take off. His first major release came on Tory’s album Memories Don’t Die with the track “Connection” featuring Fabolous and Paloma Ford.
“That was my first big official release, and it felt like everything was coming full circle. Tory’s support has been instrumental in my career,” Davo says.
With collaborations that span from big names like Fabolous, Slim Jimi, and Rich Da Kid, to working with producers like MIKE WAVES, Davo is carving out his space in the industry.
“I’m always looking to push boundaries and create new sounds. I write all my own material, and I work with other writers who have the same vision as me,” he explains.
As he prepares for his debut album and two other exciting projects, Davo has his sights set on global domination. “I want to be one of the most influential artists in the next decade,” he states.
“I see myself on top of both the reggae and hip-hop charts.”
And as far as performing goes? He’s already played for 20,000 people in Kingston, Jamaica, opening up for Chris Brown—so don’t be surprised if you catch him headlining massive shows in the future.
“One Down” is just the beginning. With plans to release new music in February, and a dream of performing in Japan and China, Davo is on the rise. If his trajectory continues, the future is bright for this dynamic artist.
