Busta Rhymes has officially resolved his legal dispute with former assistant Dashiel Gables, as both parties have agreed to a private settlement. According to reports, the agreement was reached through mediation, with the specific terms remaining confidential.
In a joint update submitted to the court, attorneys for both sides confirmed that the settlement documentation is in its final stages. They indicated that everything should be completed within ten days, signaling a clear intention from both parties to bring the matter to a close swiftly. A judge overseeing the case has also requested that a formal motion for settlement be filed by June 1.
The legal battle dates back to August 2025, when Gables filed a lawsuit seeking between $6 million and $7 million in damages. The claims included allegations of assault, battery, wage theft, and emotional distress. The case stemmed from an incident in January 2025, during which Gables alleged that the rapper physically assaulted him at his Brooklyn residence following a workplace dispute.
According to the claims, the altercation escalated from a verbal argument, allegedly triggered by frustration over Gables using his phone while on the job. Gables also stated that he was later terminated and cut off from employment after the incident, prompting him to report the matter to authorities. Busta Rhymes subsequently turned himself in and was charged with third-degree assault, a development that surprised many fans at the time.
The situation intensified months later when Busta Rhymes filed a countersuit in October 2025, accusing Gables of defamation, extortion, and damaging his reputation.
The controversy initially surfaced just days after the rapper received a major career honor—a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—adding an unexpected layer of tension to what should have been a celebratory moment.
With the settlement now in place, both sides appear ready to move forward, closing a chapter that had drawn significant public attention.
