Phillip Andre
Q.) What is your name/stage name?
A.) “My name is Phillip Anduray and my stage name is Phillip Andre.
Q.) Where are you from?
A.) “I’m from Los Angeles.”
Q.) What do you do?
A.) “I go to school to study psychology, and I work retail to fund my music.”
Q.) How long have you been making music?
A.) “I’ve been making music since 2019.”
Q.) Who’s your biggest inspiration?
A.) “My biggest inspiration would have to be my parents. They came to this country with nothing and still somehow managed to provide for me while having to face issues with their own health. My parents are the strongest people I know and I’m thankful for them every day.”
Q.) What genre of music do you create?
A.) “I honestly make music in a bunch of different genres like alt., folk, indie, hip hop, and I’ve recently started making HyperPop.”
Q.) What was it like working with (collabs?)
A.) “Collabs are fun, especially since I love making music and I work fast; I’ll do a song in like 30 minutes. It’s cool to see how the producers or artists I collab with react when I send them back the finished product.”
Q.) What are some features you have?
A.) “I have some features with an artist called VXGA, I don’t know when the song will drop that I featured on but he’s also a feature on my upcoming album, too. I have another one with a producer called E Henny; that song’s going to be on some 80s shit. ”
Q.) What are some features you want to get?
A.) “I just want to work with artists that are open-minded, driven to do the best they can and want to share their talent with the world. But one artist I would love to get a feature from would be 2gaudy, formerly known as 637godwin.”
Q.) Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
A.) “The one artist I’d like to work with, that’s alive, would-be Jean Dawson. I feel like we would make something special. The one artist that I’d like to work with, that has sadly passed away, would be Juice WRLD. That man was different when it came to making music, truly a legend, RIP Juice.”
Q.) Are you signed to a label?
A.) “I am not signed to a label but that isn’t something I’m against. I think it’s just about knowing who you’re going to sign with and making sure that they see you and treat you as a partner.”
Q.) Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
A.) “I would prefer a distribution deal mainly because I don’t want to sign away my publishing rights and song rights. I want to keep most of the money I make off my music, you know. I also want to be able to drop music whenever I feel it’s right and have creative control.”
Q.) Where did your name come from?
A.) “My name came from my first name being Phillip. The second part came from people not being able to pronounce my last name correctly, instead they pronounce it like “Andre” so I just decided to call myself that: Phillip Andre. I had also taken into account SEO.”
Q.) What are you currently working on?
A.) “I am currently working on my HyperpPop music because I am finishing up my album: ‘What’s Killing Phillip Andre?'”
Q.) What is your latest release?
A.) “My latest release on SoundCloud was an Indie/alt. type, 3-song EP that I titled ‘The TV’s on but no one’s watching’ Demo Tapes.
My latest release on the major streaming services is an alt. type single called ‘Is My Eye Twitching?'”
Q.) When is your next release?
A.) “My next release is going to be my album ‘What’s Killing Phillip Andre?’ This album focuses more on melodic rap.”
Q.) What do you hope to accomplish with your music?
A.) “I just want to be able to show people that they aren’t alone with whatever it is they are going through. I struggle a lot with my mental health, and I never really had someone I could talk to, so I turned to other things as a way to cope, both negative and positive. One of the positives being music, I want to help out others as much as I can and let them know that I’ll always be here as an outlet, as someone they can relate to and turn to whenever they feel alone.”
